A woman who was raped by a fellow student has accused the University of Birmingham of failing to investigate, as the attack took place off the university campus.

The victim says the attack took place following a night out at Pryzm, in the city centre almost two years ago. She admits she had been heavily and taken the alleged rapist back to her home in Birmingham, where they had consensual sex. The victim claims that later when she was ‘barely conscious’ he brutally raped her, despite her repeatedly saying ‘no’

The woman text a friend what had happened, but did not report it to the police, saying she ‘wanted to forget about it’.

The education chiefs eventually told her they would ‘not be initiating a formal Student Conduct Investigation’ The reasons they cited included that the alleged attack did not take place at the university and this had not been a subject to a police investigation.
